For many Christians, praying in Jerusalem is a lifelong dream. But travel is expensive, health does not always allow it, and life gets in the way. The good news is that you can still send your own written prayer to the Holy Land. This guide explains, step by step, how to send a prayer to Jerusalem online, what to write, and what you receive back.
Step 1: Decide who the prayer is for
Most prayers sent to Jerusalem are for someone specific: a parent who is sick, a child going through a hard time, a marriage that needs strength, or a loved one who has died. Some are simply prayers of thanks. Before you write, take a moment to think of the person and what you most want to say. If the prayer is for someone else, you can dedicate it to them by name.
Step 2: Write your prayer in your own words
There is no right or wrong way to write a prayer. Many people start by addressing God, then share what is on their heart, and close with "Amen". A few honest sentences are enough. If you are not sure where to begin, our Prayer Library has prayers for healing, family, protection and thanksgiving that you can use as they are or adapt.
Tip: be specific. "Please give my mother strength for her chemotherapy on Tuesday" is more personal than a general request, and it will mean more to you when you see the photograph later.
Step 3: Choose a holy site
Jerusalem has many places where Christians have prayed for centuries. The most common choices are:
β’ Church of the Holy Sepulchre: the traditional site of the crucifixion and the empty tomb.
β’ Western Wall: where visitors place folded prayer notes between the ancient stones.
β’ Garden Tomb: a peaceful garden outside the city walls.
β’ Via Dolorosa: the Way of the Cross through the Old City.
β’ Garden of Gethsemane (Church of All Nations): where Jesus prayed before his arrest.
β’ Abbey of the Dormition: on Mount Zion, linked with the Virgin Mary.
You can choose one site or several.
Step 4: We print it and carry it by hand
With Jerusalem Holy Prayer, your prayer is printed on paper in Jerusalem and carried by a member of our local team to the site you chose. It is not just stored in a database. It is a real piece of paper, placed at a real holy site.
Step 5: You receive a dated photograph
After delivery, we email you a dated photograph of your prayer at the holy site. Many people print it, frame it, or send it to the person the prayer was for. It is a simple, tangible reminder that your words reached Jerusalem.
A note on what we do and don't do
We are a physical delivery service. We carry your own prayer and photograph it; we do not pray on your behalf, and we never promise a spiritual or medical outcome. Your prayer stays private unless you choose to share it.
